Best SPRING things to do in NEW YORK CITY 🌸

Spring is finally here and with that, warmer weather and blooming flowers and colorful trees are back! 🌷

In this post I want to show you spots you simply cannot miss when you visit NYC in the springtime! 🌸

1. See the cherry Blossoms

I know, it‘s obvious, but the number one thing you should do when you are in the city during the spring, especially during early to mid April (so right now!) is explore all the best cherry blossom spots and see these beautiful trees bloom fully pink, red or white before the petals fall, which is usually 1-2 weeks after the initial bloom, so the time-window is short here!

The best spots to see the cherry blossoms bloom in New York are definitely Central Park (especially Cherry Hill), Brooklyn Botanical Garden, Roosevelt Island & Hunter‘s Point South Park in LIC

                                            (Brooklyn Botanical Graden)
                                                     (Hunter's Point South Park)

2. Go to a restaurant with outdoor seating

The best way to enjoy some delicious food when you‘re in New York when the weather starts getting warmer is to sit at a restaurant with outdoor seating. This is not a thing you come across too many times in the city because of the limited side walk space there is. But when you find a good one and get to enjoy a lunch special or an early dinner with drinks outside you can call yourself lucky! This gives you the opportunity to really feel the city vibe while sitting down and eating because you are surrounded by all the hustle and bustle that is always going on in New York.

Some recommended places for you are The Parkgate or Cafe Panino Mucho Gusto both located in the West Village and El Camino or  Romeo‘s both located in the East Village.

3. See the Tulips in Pumphouse Park & explore Battery Park City

Located in Lower Manhattan is Battery Park City. It‘s located right next to the Financial District where a lot of famous New York Landmarks like the 9/11 memorial, the One World Trade Center, the Charging Bull or the Stock Exchange can be found. Battery Park City is often described as a suburban escape in the middle of manhattan but there is sure a lot going on. The highlight in the spring is Pumphouse park, which features a gorgeous field of tulips with a view on Jersey City as well as a Promenade on which you can take a walk, grab a coffee at Hutch and Waldo’s and even see the Statue of Liberty.

4. Grab some FroYo and enjoy it in WSP

One of my favorite sweet treats on a warm day definitely has to be Frozen Yoghurt! And there are some really good spots just outside of Washington Square Park. My favorites are either Culture or Madison Fare which are both on W 8th Street. When you have successfully grabbed your frozen treat, preferably of course with your favorite toppings, head down to Washington Square Park, because there is always something going on. From live Jazz, local artists displaying and selling their works, to just people enjoying the newly returned sun is perfect for a little break in your day where you can just relax and maybe people watch a little.
