Did you know, that Manhattan alone has such a high density of restaurants that it would take you over 12 years to eat at all of them? Crazy right!
Today, however, I want to focus on my personal top 10 options in NYC where you can grab a quick snack or beverage and leave which is often more cost-efficient than a sit down restaurant and also gives you more time to explore and take a stroll through the city while enjoying your treat!
I will include, in no particular order, sips & bites that are non-negotiable when visiting new york in my opinion.

10. Levain Bakery
Starting off really strong with a bakery that is famous for their massive 6-ounce cookies that are crunchy on the outside but gooey on the inside thanks to their unique shape and size. They just launched their new Carrot Cake Cookie creation which means I definitely need to visit again soon!
9. 10 thousand coffee
This Australian coffee shop is serving one-of-a-kind locally roasted specialty coffee drinks that don’t just look really pretty but also taste amazing. I tried their signature einspanner which features an espresso topped with a thick layer of sweetened whipped cream and cocoa powder that reminds you a lot of a tiramisu dessert.
8. PopUp Bagels This is not going to be your typical nyc bagel experience. At PopUp, you can choose 3 freshly baked bagel kinds that are still warm when you get them with your choice of spread which comes in a separate container. They have silverware ready for you, but I most enjoy these bagels by just ripping them and dipping them into the schmear. It will get messy but you will not regret it! Every week they introduce a new exclusive schmear for you to try while their signature flavors stay the same and are always available.
7. Rhythm Zero
Rhythm Zero is not just a coffee shop but an apparent new art hub located in the west village. It’s calm and minimalistic vibe really draws you into their shop but their delicious drinks are what is going to make you come back again and again. I tried one of their unique creations, the Blackberry pie matcha. They have exclusive drinks which they change seasonally that are thought out treats you will crave everyday.
6. Gnocchi on 9th
In this store there is no time to sit down. It was designed exclusively for on-the-go orders which makes their food so practical but also delicious. In April 2024 this shop was first established and it only serves different Gnocchi variations, nothing else.
5. Glace NY
No matter if you visit New York in 3 feet of snow or a swelling heat of 100 degrees. This store will satisfy your needs. They have the best, rich hot chocolate sugar bombs which they top off with toasted marshmallow halo whipped cream and your choice of different toppings but they also serve the creamiest ice cream variations optionally as a sundae or alongside a warmed up chocolate chip cookie. This store is a dream for every sweet tooth.
4. Mama’s TOO!
This is not your traditional new york slice like you would probably expect it. Instead of the typical triangle slices Mama’s TOO serves square style slices with caramelized crusts and, if wanted, hand-cut pepperoni pieces or other toppings heavy with oil. They have put their own twist on the famous savory pies and it is my favorite pizza in the city.
3. 787 Coffee
At this coffee shop you do not leave without at least feeling the puerto rican vibe just a little bit. The hand-picked coffee beans from the mountains of puerto rico are used here to make many different wonderful variations of coffees of all sorts. They let you choose between their 3 different kinds of espressos to entail in your coffee. My favorite creation of theirs is the Tres Leches Latte, which comes in these interesting pouches to bring Caribbean culture to new york city.
2. Golden Manna Bakery
I would have never found this place without my friend recommending it and taking me here. It is a beloved Chinatown gem famous for its freshly baked goods. But their absolute bestseller are their mango mochis including a chewy consistency on the outside covered in finely grated coconut and on the inside fresh pieces of mango which are not too sweet and make this the perfect fruity treat.
1. Cha Cha Matcha
This is the best strawberry matcha I have ever had and I am not being dramatic. It’s unique mix of their self-made strawberry puree, your choice of milk and the ceremonial grade matcha from Uji, Japan makes this the perfect blend of refreshing and sweet. The strawberry side tastes almost like a rich milkshake and in combination with the bitter undertones of the matcha this drink is perfect for taking a stroll through the streets of new york.
Let me know in the comments which one of these you would want to try first when you visit New York City!
