On September 20, 2025, an official announcement was made on IWTV during Pro Wrestling Magic's - The Hangover. Minding my own business, and sitting at the merch table enjoying the show from the fan's perspective, instead of behind the scenes for a change, Mateo Marcelos of El Pacto Diabolico came down to the ring and demanded I take part in the next match. A fatal four-way match, for the Pro Wrestling Magic Dark Arts Championship, that I was not prepared for. However, being a partial owner of the PWM Kingdom, I was forced to participate due to a technicality. Mind you, I've been dealing with El Pacto Diabolico's shenanigans since coming out of retirement and debuting in Pro Wrestling Magic and Matt Pro Wrestling.
I ended up in the match, even though I hadn’t planned to compete. Despite giving it everything I had, luck wasn’t on my side, and the outcome didn’t go my way. I was left feeling frustrated and angry. Since debuting in PWM, this was my first real shot at adding another championship to my Professional Wrestling resume, but I came up short.
After everything was over, I found myself alone in the ring, only to be confronted by Mateo. I braced myself, expecting something to happen, because something almost always does with him. The lights might go out, I could be attacked from behind, or maybe a friend would be targeted; he’s always trying to mess with my head. Usually, his mind games fall flat, but this time was different. No attacks, no lights out, nothing like that happened. Instead, he made an announcement, and it was one I never saw coming, and that turned my world upside down.
He took the microphone and said he wanted to be my friend, adding, "Steve doesn't want to play with me anymore," which is a whole story on its own. Then, he mentioned he had a gift for me, as if he was trying to win me over. The gift turned out to be a match, a match I’ve been wanting for nearly twenty years, ever since I started in this business: Dan Murdoch vs. Jay Lethal!
I was taken aback and confused. What was he up to? Was this just another one of his mind games? It turns out, it wasn’t. Later that evening, the match was officially announced. On December 20, 2025, at Pro Wrestling Magic Kingdom Come X: Christmas Vacation, Dan Murdoch will face off against his friend, his trainer, and the person who's always had his back in this business, because he was one of his students, JAY LETHAL!
I still don't know exactly what game Mateo is playing, but I'm willing to go along with it. Since joining the Kingdom, he's been the only one to use his newly acquired ownership role to open these opportunities for me. So, this marks the start of a new journey.
