Short films as original and professional as some may be, don’t always get the spotlight they deserve. Usually only seen in the corners of YouTube or film festival playlists. But if you’ve ever watched one, you know that they can pack a surprising amount of emotion, story, and creativity into just a few minutes.
Take "Hen, His Wife”, for example. It’s strange, quiet, and kind of uncomfortable, but in the best way. The animation feels intentionally rough, which actually makes it more powerful. It slowly becomes something deeper, something that makes you question relationships, control, and loneliness. It’s the kind of short film that doesn’t need to explain itself, it just sort of sits in your brain afterward.
We live in a time where everyone has streaming services and content but short films remain one of the most powerful forms of storytelling. They don't need a huge budget or a long run time, they break everything down to the essentials for the plot in order to get the film's point across in its run time, but they only need a few minutes to make you feel something real.
Another notable short film that makes people feel as well as think is “Face Shop.” It’s set in a bizarre little store where people can literally buy new faces,a perfect metaphor for how we feel the need to change ourselves to fit in or to hide parts of who we really are. It’s creepy and surreal, but relatable in the age of social media filters and online identities. What makes it stand out is how you feel like you’ve entered a whole world that’s both familiar and alien at the same time. That’s something only short films seem able to do, and that's build a universe and tear it down before you even realize what’s happening.
The greatest short films focus less on the plot and more on the feeling. They do their best to connect to the watcher, as well as are where new voices find and test ideas and have cinematic freedom, all while also showing us that you don't need hour long run times to make art and send a message that lasts

Quite interesting, very informative!
