Local Stories

Colorado Springs may seem like a big city, with a population of nearly half a million as of a 2020 census. But those of us who lived there know, it is a lot smaller than one would think. When I first moved to Jersey, I got my job and then I started seeing what I call "small town stuff", in that it feels like everyone knows one another and is interconnected. Colorado Springs is much the same way.

In the "richer" neighborhood of Lorson Ranch, an 11 year old boy went missing on January 27th, 2020. By March 2nd, his step mother, Letecia Hardin (then Stauch) had been arrested for his murder.

Originally, it was a report for a juvenile runaway. Three days later, it was now a missing/endangered person case. "I will never forget watching these interviews. It was obvious she was involved, not to mention coaching her teen on air, I remember thinking  I just saw a murderer on TV." said a redditor by the name of Honalana.

She slipped into past tense when referring to him, and in real time said she couldn't wait for Gannon to come home so he could clear her name and the world will apologize to me.

Every time the police found some more information and confronted her with it, her story changed to fit whatever the current narrative once, but as most people know, changing your story doesn't make you look less guilty, it makes your lies more obvious and makes others suspicious of you.

Initially the story was he didn't come home from playing with friends, Then there was the rape and kidnapping which was story one. They got progressively weirder, and then there was the "alters" that shot Gannon, who she claimed was her alter Maria. None of this Dissociative Identity Disorder could be proven by anyone but the Defense's witness, which was a controversial "expert" on DID.

That's all for now, tune in next week for more on this story.
