FroMan's Review of Asbury Park!(Like my article, follow my account!)
One door opens another one closes. As my week at Asbury comes to an end, I reflect on the life changing journey I had over the span of the last 5 Business days. Im long acquainted and familiar with the majestic City of Asbury Park but this new week showed me a cold and colorful underbelly. That be from scarfing down pizza, walking through a mall or spending time with my good pal Juan. I frequent Asbury often and I see it as a Butterfly. Most only appreciate it when its a breathtaking butterfly (In the summer) and fail to see the beauty in it's devolved state the caterpillar (In the Winter). That being said this is my whole heart honest review of Asbury Park
So my rating system is a little more unconventional then other systems. I have 5 categories adding up to the lump sum of 25. With 25 meaning its great and 0 meaning its boo boo water. The categories consist of Stability; that covers how safe an area is and if your likely to get stabbed there, Parkability; how easy it is to find parking there, Eatability; how many / how good are the food spots there, Cheapability; if your average joe can go there and not spend an arm and a leg because the area is for the upper crust, and finally Dateability; how nice it would be to go on a date there. All of these are taken into account for the Shore Score!
Stability: 3-5 Organs left in tact
Asbury used to be known as dangerous crime ridden city. Now its an upper crust pleasant area with a new coat of paint. But the thing is with paint the old coat can always be found under the metalic new one. The same can be said for Asbury; whilst the warm rays of the sun dawn on the coastal town its safe for the most part but if you stay past sunniest some shady figures appear. Especially in the hours following 2am, I have been pressed and almost killed on a hand full of times. If you stay on the main strip though you should be fine.
Parkability: 4-5 Ipots aren't filled
Parking in Asbury isn't to bad. On occasion it could be scarce on parking but moments like that are few and far between. Parking is also really cheap and is done off the Asbury parking app. And if your a cheap bastard like me you can park in the 7/11 plaza a few blocks down for free. Ive been doing so for the past 3 years and have never gotten a ticket for doing so. It is in the sketchier side of Asbury though.
Eatability: 2-5 Non expensive restaurants
My love for Asbury runs deep but the rose tinted glasses are taken off when it comes to food spots. There aren't to many options and the ones that are there are either expensive or mid. Some highlights are Mogo a korean fusion place with descent prices and good food, and Crust and crumble pizza again with good food and pricing.
Cheapability: 4-5 Bucks left in your wallet
Asbury can deffenitly be a little pricey in some aspects but cheap in others. Food prices might be high but concert tickets are dirt cheap. There's a myriad of venues ranging from the Stone Pony, Asbury Lanes, and The House Of Independents. All of which i've never spent more then $60 on a ticket for.
Dateability: 5-5 Good dates
I believe Asbury is a great spot for a date. Views that can rival the look of your significant other, cute shops, and a great backdrop for any date. Good vibes and great fun as long as you leave there before 2am!
Shore Score: 18-25
Some of the beauty of Asbury is its rugged edges and the duality of its etherial attractiveness and the ability to get stabbed by a homeless man in one place. Theres a reason Asbury is one of my favorite places in the world. Iv'e been going there for years, that be for concerts, an escape from the noise, or somewhere to dick around with my friends at. I whole heartily wish everyone that reads this post goes at least once in there life
