A recap of what happened at Mercer County Community College during the mont of October. Here's everything Student Life and Leadership had for such a spooky month.
Coffee Tasting
Starting off the month of October with Coffee Tasting by Turtle Bean which is a Costa Rican owned coffee shop located in Bordentown with a rich selection of coffee, an inspiring moment with the owner who's story can be felt with passion striking the hearts of students to push further in life no matter the trials and tribulation, Celebrating Hispanic Heritage month. My personal favorite was the 'Pura Vida' which translates to Pure Life and I must say that it was lively along with the great conversations I had the pleasure to witness students connecting.
Movie Night
One of the scariest nights at MCCC takes place in the quad with a Horrifying movie; The Conjuring and then the unexpected horror film icons such as Michael Myers, Leather face (who both chased me around) and Art the clown that send chill down your spine. Nonetheless it was a splendid turn it for students having a nice moment to debrief in the chilly weather with candy, frights and maybe a couple of nightmares.
Pumpkin Painting
Pumpkin Painting and bedazzled coasters was a fun arts and craft event lead by student life with a great turnout and splendid art works from the creative minds of Mercer student. It was a nice way to express the inner artist within before/after class during the lunch hour.
Halloween Karaoke
What more way to have fun in October than to sing a few tunes at Karaoke hosted by student life. Great music, environment was on theme for the month and a spectacular crowd that was so supportive of each other for having the confidence to stand up in front of everyone. It was a blast watching people will talent go up to sing their hearts out.
Heritage Showcase Kahoot Game
Kahoot game to celebrate Filipino, Italian, German and Hungarian-American Heritage with historical facts of these cultures within America that is a great way to have students learn about history not to mention snacks from each cultures to enjoy while trying to win against one another for a grand prize.
Block Party
A huge party to introduce the brand new mascot, Maverick the mustang. One can already all the horse related things down to stuffing your own mustang with a tiny Mercer shirt for it to show off that Mustang pride! Pictures with the new mascot and free shirts handed out by the athletic teams along with pencils and stickers. What a wonderful time to welcome the mascot to the Mercer family as they are the new face of MCCC. So once again welcome Maverick!
Career Closet Pop-up Shop
The pop up that was highly successful with free clothes, free jewelry and a stylist that was on sigh to help students pick out the right pieces in order to land the job at any interview with a professional outfit. This event was a big hit with so many students finding their selected pieces excited to style. A Mercer student can always count on the career closet to land an interview with the appropriate outfit.
L.E.A.D. Campus Clean-up
L.E.A.D campus clean up is about keeping MCCC's campus clean not because it is our college, but because it is our second home and like a home it should be taken cared of so the best way to care for the campus is by cleaning it up providing a much more neater environment for the students.
Mask Making
Mask Making was a preparation in for the Masquerade Halloween ball that would take place soon. Like the Pumpkin paintings this too was an arts and craft event that allowed students too customize their masks. I must say these masks were creative and beautiful, it was a pleasure to see them all having such effort into their designs.
Spooky Snaps
A small event that lead with taking pictures and videos with a special guest who was revealed to be Maverick the Mustang, this was also a small costume contest that ends with a prize. While it was small it is far from being least as we all still had a wonderful time.
Halloween Party
Finally, the moment everyone has been waiting for, students have been preparing themselves for the annual Halloween party to have a blast with their friends, great music and delicious food. It was finally a night to let loose and just have no worries for the night. One of the greatest nights that takes place on our campus is that very party that adds to the fond memories that you never want to end.
